Former Auburn Wide Receiver Transfers To Western Kentucky
The Auburn Tigers lost a number of wide receivers to the transfer portal this offseason.
All of them have already found a new home – every transfer out of Auburn had committed to a new school by the end of April – except for one. Wide receiver Koy Moore had not committed anywhere until earlier this week.
Moore will be transferring to play for the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers, according to Matt Zenitz. Moore will be catching passes from former Auburn and LSU quarterback TJ Finley. Finley spent one season with LSU, two with Auburn, one with the Texas State Bobcats, and will now spend his final season of college ball with WKU.
Moore spent the 2020 season with Finley in Baton Rouge, catching 22 passes for 177 yards. His production dipped to just 71 yards on five receptions in 2021. He transferred to Auburn in 2022, where he recorded 20 receptions for 314 yards and one touchdown. He only appeared in 10 games last year and had 24 yards receiving.
Hopefully in Western Kentucky’s pass-happy system, Moore can find some stability on the field.
Hugh Freeze & the Tigers lost six receivers to the transfer portal this offseason. Jay Fair (transferred to USC), Ja’Varrius Johnson (transferred to UCF), Omari Kelly (transferred to Middle Tennessee State), Malcolm Johnson Jr. (transferred to Bowling Green), and Jyaire Shorter (transferred to Memphis) are all gone alongside Moore. However, receiver is arguably the most improved position on the Tigers’ roster this season with the addition of four high-profile recruits and a handful of talented transfers.
