Ohio State’s Jeremiah Smith Predicted to Join $37 Million Star NFL Quarterback
Ohio State Buckeyes wide receiver Jeremiah Smith has been one of the best freshman wideouts that college football has seen in some time. As for Smith’s future in the NFL draft, the star playmaker will not be eligible to turn pro until 2027. This is not stopping fans from thinking about Smith in an NFL uniform. Through the first seven games, Smith has notched 35 receptions for 623 yards and 8 touchdowns. Smith already has connections in the NFL as his cousin is Seattle Seahawks two-time Pro Bowl quarterback Geno Smith. DraftCountdown.com’s Shane Hallam has a very early 2027 NFL mock draft and predicted an intriguing future landing spot for Smith. Things are already looking up for the Washington Commanders thanks to rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels. Hallam’s early projections has Smith teaming up with Daniels as the No. 2 pick in the 2027 NFL draft.
It is worth noting that the Commanders’ upward trajectory may have Washington picking much later in the first round. This could take the Commanders out of the running to land Smith unless the team traded up. Daniels’ four-year, $37.7 million rookie contract is slated to run through the 2027 season.
Hallam has Ohio State freshman quarterback Julian Sayin as the early favorite to be the No. 1 pick in the 2027 NFL draft. Smith still has plenty of college football left to play in order to cement his NFL status, but the playmaker is well on his way to being a top draft pick.
