Bournemouth make offer for striker – Cherries need to review bid as agent reveals conditions

Earlier this month, AFC Bournemouth’s Evanilson and Enes Ünal suffered injuries and both are set for prolonged spells on the sidelines.

The duo’s setbacks have left Cherries manager Andoni Iraola with Daniel Jebbison as the only recognised striker at his disposal. Last week, the Premier League side recalled him from his loan spell at Watford.

Bournemouth would be looking for a new striker in the winter market and have included LDU Quito star Álex Arce in their target list.

That’s according to Monumental AM 1080, and they took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to provide an update on the English club’s interest.

The Paraguay international joined the Ecuadorian club in February 2024 and managed 35 goals and four assists from 46 matches in all competitions last year. His fine displays aroused interest from Bournemouth and Moroccan side Wydad Casablanca.

Bournemouth and Wydad Casablanca have made offers to sign the frontman on loan in this window. The player and his club will only consider a move if it’s a permanent transfer.

This indicates the Premier League side have to revise their proposal if they want to secure his services in January.

Versus had a chat with Arce’s agent Miguel Gareppe and asked about the reported interest from Bournemouth.

“Yes, there were enquiries, surveys, that comes every day for Álex. A loan is not going to happen, the idea is to have a definitive transfer if it happens. The best thing for the player is for him to go to a club where he can consolidate, to a stable project, for several years,” he said.

“A loan in January and for the Premier League, it’s not convenient, I don’t see it as very positive. It will take him a few months to adapt and when he gets over that stage, the tournament is over.”

Bournemouth also need to convince Arce as a move to England may not be a priority for him.
