Dean Huijsen makes feelings clear on future as Liverpool transfer links remain

Dean Huijsen is wanted by the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool, and Manchester United after impressing at Bournemouth, but he may not be a certainty to leave the Cherries in the summer

Dean Huijsen has already hinted at his ambition to carve out a historic chapter with Bournemouth by helping the team secure European soccer for the first time next season.

This revelation could spell disappointment for the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool, and Manchester Unitedl, who are eyeing the 19 year old center-back ahead of the summer transfer window when a release clause in his contract is set to be triggered. Huijsen, a £15 million ($18.9 million) acquisition from Juventus last summer, has quickly made his mark on the south coast, drawing attention from the Premier League’s big guns.

A reported £50 million ($63 million) release clause has put top clubs on high alert, but Huijsen’s future at Bournemouth isn’t sealed yet, especially as the Cherries are contenders for a European spot next season – a feat they’ve never achieved before.

Andoni Iraola’s squad could make history by finishing high up the league table, which might just convince Huijsen to stay. He alluded to this possibility in a recent interview with The Guardian, stating: “We’re doing well and I think we can qualify for Europe. We have the quality and the potential.

Who wouldn’t want to play in Europe? I think everyone would like that. It would go down in the history of the club. It would be great for all of the players, fans and everyone involved. I think it is realistic with how we are playing. We are doing well and all of the stats show that it’s not just luck and we deserve to be here. We just need to keep on working hard, stay humble and continue proving ourselves.”

Bournemouth manager Iraola has high hopes for Huijsen as he navigates the club in fifth place in the Premier League. Reflecting on the player’s potential, he remarked: “I think he has shown from the beginning that he can do this.

“He plays with confidence and even though he is 19 years old he has played a few games. But now with the injury to Marcos (Senesi), he for sure will have to play more. It is not always easy to play as a defender in the Premier League, but I hope the young players can grow together and continue their development. The good thing for them is that they have room to improve.”
