Newcastle United keen on Hugo Ekitike

Newcastle United are considering a move for Hugo Ekitike should they sell Alexander Isak, with a host of other clubs also looking at the French striker.

According to Caught Offside, Hugo Ekitike has a host of suitors chasing his signature ahead of the summer, with Newcastle United very much interested in the Frenchman. The 23-year-old has been shining for Eintracht Frankfurt in his debut season in the Bundesliga, as he will cost upwards of 80 million in the summer.

Eintracht Frankfurt have had two fantastic forward in their setup who cannot stop scoring goals this season. Omar Marmoush, who lit up the Bundesliga with his early season exploit, which earned him a big move to Manchester City in January, and then there’s Hugo Ekitike.

Signed from PSG back in the summer as the Parisians did not feel the need to keep hold of the exciting French striker. Eiktike has hit an incredible 17 goals and provided 6 assists in all competitions, which has aroused the interest of some top clubs, specifically from the Premier L: league.

Eintracht Frankfurt are in a strong position with the striker’s future, as he has a contract until 2029, and they are set to demand at least €80 million. Meanwhile, Newcastle United are already thinking about signing him and renewing their interest from the last two summer windows. However, they face competition from the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea in the €80m-rated striker.

Newcastle United reportedly view Ekitike as a potential replacement for Alexander Isak should they end up selling the Swede. Arsenal are prioritising a move for Isak, while his reported €150 million price tag could still prove a problem for the Gunners. At the same time, Liverpool are also keen to sign the Magpies star as a replacement for Darwin Nunez.

Newcastle United faces Ekitike competition

Newcastle United would ideally love to keep hold of Isak in the summer, but PSR problems could be the only reason forcing them to sell him, although it will also depend on the player. Ekitike is of a similar profile to the Swede, but the Magpies will be wary of the competition from Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool

The Blues are constantly looking at young attacking options, and on paper, Ekitike will suit their squad. Liverpool and Arsenal could look at the €80m-rated striker as an alternative to Isak, given he’s nearly half the price of the Swede.
