“It’s all formalities now” – Claim Leicester City signing is pretty much done, paperwork will be completed at end of season
Currently on loan at Leicester City from Sporting CP, Issahaku Abdul Fatawu has greatly impressed under Enzo Maresca in the Championship.
The 19-year-old has three goals and nine assists to his name in 27 Championship games, and there has been a lot of talk about him staying beyond the current season.
Reports have suggested a €17m clause existed that could be triggered if the club were to get promoted, and 3News in Ghana claim the deal for a permanent move to Leicester is already all but done.
The clause was only available if the youngster played in 60% of games and a move up to the Premier League was achieved, and as things stand, the Foxes top the table by nine points with the player starting 72% of games.
That’s why Sporting CP and Leicester have ‘started talks to ensure’ the forward stays in England next season, and a source close to the Portuguese club told 3News: “It’s all formalities now. Just waiting until the end of the season to complete the paperwork.”
Therefore, it seems the 19-year-old will be staying at the King Power Stadium for the foreseeable future, unless something drastic happens to Maresca’s team between now and the end of the season.
