Key Hull City figure makes vital MKM Stadium pledge ahead of big Birmingham City clash - Hull Live

The Tigers will be looking to find some momentum in front of their own supporters in the next few days

Goalkeeper Ryan Allsop admits Hull City must find a way to collect more points at the MKM Stadium as the season enters its final weeks.

Just 11 games remain for City to secure their spot inside the Championship’s top six and their form at home will go a long way to cementing their place inside the play-offs, with seven of those coming in front of their own supporters.

Those seven games start tomorrow (Tuesday) night with the visit of struggling Birmingham City before league leaders Leicester City arrive on Saturday for the final game before the Tigers’ enforced three-week break.

Saturday’s goalless draw at Preston continued their impressive record on the road, but at home, City’s form has been more inconsistent with seven wins from their 17 games and just one victory in their last four at the MKM Stadium, which is in stark contrast to their form on the road, and it’s something Allsop says the players are keen to address.

“It’s a tough question,” said Allsop when asked about the disparity between City at home and on their travels. “I’m not really sure, to be honest. I don’t want to make excuses about the pitch or anything, but I don’t think that has been a big help.

“I think it’s probably the way teams set up more to nullify us at home, maybe, but I don’t think that we read too much into that. I think we go out there and try and do our jobs as usual, week in, week out. And some weeks, we obviously do it better than others. Other weeks we don’t and we have to find different ways.

“So in terms of that, I think we do literally just try and approach each game in the same manner and go out there trying to win every week.

“One hundred per cent, we do need to win more at home. We know that. Our away form has obviously been brilliant, but as you say, coming into the run-in, we need to pick that up and make sure that we’re picking up as many points as we can at home and away.”
