Ex-Blue Jays Slugger Still Available; Yankees Could Be Intriguing Landing Spot

Yankees Given Surprising Odds To Land Blue Jays Star Slugger After Strong Season - Sports Illustrated NY Yankees News, Analysis and More

Could the Yankees sign the former Blue Jays slugger?
The New York Yankees’ biggest issue in 2023 certainly was its disappointing offense.

New York had one of the worst offenses in baseball and injuries were a major reason why. The Yankees’ depth was tested and wasn’t able to come through. New York dealt with inconsistent play but a steady flow of injuries as well which made it so the club was never able to get on track.

One of the Yankees’ most important injuries last season certainly was first baseman Anthony Rizzo. He dealt with the impact of a concussion and never was the same afterward. Rizzo seems to be fully healthy right now, but it wouldn’t hurt to add more veteran depth behind him.

Luckily for New York, there still are some very solid players available in free agency. One player who could make a lot of sense for the Yankees is former San Francisco Giants and Toronto Blue Jays first baseman Brandon Belt.

The one-time All-Star spent the 2023 season with Toronto and impressed. He only appeared in 103 games and slugged 19 home runs and drove in 43 runs.

Belt is available and likely wouldn’t cost much at all. There seemingly isn’t any downside to signing him so why not consider a move at least?

  1. First off I want to say wonderful blog! I had a quick question which I’d like to ask if you do not mind.

I was interested to find out how you center yourself
and clear your thoughts prior to writing. I’ve had trouble clearing my thoughts in getting my thoughts out there.
I truly do take pleasure in writing however
it just seems like the first 10 to 15 minutes are usually lost
just trying to figure out how to begin. Any ideas or hints?

    Cheers!
