The Vegas Golden Knights continue their hot streak at the trade deadline, reportedly acquiring defenseman Noah Hanifin from the Calgary Flames for young defenseman Daniil Miromanov. An unnamed third team has been involved as well, allowing Vegas to retain up to 75% of Hanifin’s salary. The full trade details are not confirmed. Elliotte Friedman broke the news on NHL Face Off live Wednesday evening, with Darren Dreger following up on X/Twitter.

Miromanov has played in just 9 games this season between the NHL and AHL, returning from injury in late January.

The move comes just a couple days after Vegas acquired forward Anthony Mantha from the Washington Capitals for a 2024 2nd round pick and a 2026 4th round pick. The Capitals would retain the maximum allowed 50% of Mantha’s salary, meaning he would carry a cap hit of $2.85M.

Vegas’ recent trade deadline history has caused controversy amongst NHL fans online, as the team has managed to add key players at the trade deadline the last two seasons while having key players placed on LTIR, most notably captain Mark Stone. Despite the mild outrage, Vegas have not been found operating outside of league rules at any point in the last two seasons.
