Tottenham Hotspur are seemingly still looking for another centre-half to add to their squad, and Hull City defender Jacob Greaves has now emerged as a potential target.
Last summer, Spurs brought in Micky van de Ven to partner Cristian Romero in the heart of the defence, and the pair have formed an incredible bond over the course of this season.
Then, in the January transfer window, the Lilywhites signed Romanian centre-back, Radu Dragusin, from Genoa. With three top class central defenders, you would think Ange Postecoglou is fairly content with his options, but that appears not the case.
Various reports suggest Spurs will enter the market for another centre-back in the summer, with a whole host of top names being linked with a move to North London.
However, the latest from the Daily Mirror (10/03/24, page 61) suggests Spurs may be looking at the second tier of English football for a new defender, with Hull City’s Jacob Greaves the focus of a new report.
It is said Greaves has been attracting attention from Premier League clubs like Spurs and Everton, with the latter looking for potential replacements for Jarrad Branthwaite, who is attracting interest ahead of the summer window.
Apparently, Tottenham sent their senior scout to watch Greaves recently in the 2-2 draw with Leicester City.
Spurs are also believed to be tracking Hull star Jaden Philogene (TEAMtalk), so the club is clearly a hotbed of activity when it comes to Tottenham’s scouting network.
Spurs Web Opinion
Jacob Greaves has been brilliant for Hull City this season, and I suppose he would be the kind of player who would understand he is fourth choice. For me, though, if we are going for a Championship player to fill in that fourth spot, I think I’d rather us just give Ashley Phillips the minutes next year.
