Hull City head coach Liam Rosenior believes his side will peak in the final nine games of the Championship season, with a play-off place very much within their grasp.
City’s thrilling 2-2 draw with leaders Leicester at the weekend saw the Tigers drop out of the top six on goal difference after Norwich thrashed League One-bound Rotherham at Carrow Road. They’ll hope Stoke City can do them a favour when they host the Canaries this weekend, before coming to the MKM Stadium on Good Friday.
The visit of the Potters will be the final game before City end the penultimate month of what has been an enthralling campaign, with April starting in some style at Leeds United on Easter Monday, before a trip to play-off hopefuls Cardiff the following weekend
By the time City return to action at the MKM Stadium on March 29, Rosenior hopes the pitch will be in a much better condition, something he feels will have a big impact on his team, as we saw at Southampton last month when his Tigers side tore the Saints to pieces on a pitch resembling a bowling green.
“I feel we’re a team made for April and May, I feel that’s the type of team that we are. I think we’re a team that with the way that we play, the type of players that we have, I think we’re made for good pitches, nice weather,” the Tigers boss told Hull Live.
“I remember Swansea last season when Russell (Martin) was there, I think they won five or six in a row towards the end. They went through a difficult period in February and March, but when it came to the pitches being good, that’s when they came to the fore, and that’s what I’m hoping for. I’m hoping for us to get through this period still in a really good place, and then I want us to peak towards the end of the season.”
