Rangers Insider Shares Corey Seager Opening Day Update

Corey Seager #5 of the Texas Rangers poses for a portrait during photo day at Surprise Stadium on February 20, 2024 in Surprise, Arizona.

The defending champion Texas Rangers are hoping for similar success in 2024.

They will bring back most of their roster and even added some reinforcements.

One player the Rangers need to stay healthy to compete for another World Series is shortstop Corey Seager.

He is an often-injured player, but when he is on the field he is elite.

But, he underwent surgery for a sports hernia before spring training.

His status is up in the air for Opening Day.

According to Evan Grant, Rangers manager Bruce Bochy is optimistic about Seager’s availability for Opening Day.

Seager is back taking swings, but it remains to be seen when he can return to the lineup.

The Rangers must want to handle this cautiously because losing Seager for a long period could derail their season.

Last season, the Rangers were able to sneak up on most of the league.

No one was picking them to win the World Series in spring.

But, this year they will have a target on their back.

Adding Evan Carter and Wyatt Langford for a full season should only make the Rangers more potent.

Also, the Rangers should be getting Jacob deGrom back late in the year.

The Rangers will have to battle with the Houston Astros again for the division title.

But, they won the World Series last year via the Wild Card.

There is no reason to think the Rangers will not be World Series contenders again this year.
