PFF Predicts Lions Drafting Notable CB
The Detroit Lions are coming off the franchise’s most successful season, with the team making it to the NFC Championship Game and falling short of a trip to the Super Bowl, with the San Francisco 49ers pulling off the comeback in the second half.
Although the Lions came incredibly close to making it to the Super Bowl for the first time in the franchise’s history, Detroit had some areas that needed to be addressed during the NFL offseason, mainly on the defensive side of the football.
Even though they have a late first-round pick (No. 29 overall) due to the team being as successful as they were during the 2023 campaign, the Lions have an opportunity to upgrade the defense with a talented young prospect.
According to PFF, the Lions could roll the dice on bringing in cornerback Kool-Aid McKinstry out of the University of Alabama at No. 29 overall.
Although McKinstry will have to prove his worth in Detroit, drafting the Crimson Tide product might be a step in the right direction for the franchise, which could be one of the best teams in the NFC for quite some time.
If the Lions can upgrade their defense, especially in the secondary, Detroit could be on the verge of playing on another level entirely as one of the elite teams in the league led by one of the most inspirational head coaches in Dan Campbell.
It’ll be interesting to see how things pan out for the Lions and if the team can take a step forward before the 2024 campaign.
