Minnesota Timberwolves Karl-Anthony Towns Set To Make Long Awaited Return

Karl-Anthony Towns named unanimous 2015-2016 NBA Rookie of the Year

After a prolonged absence due to a meniscus tear in his left knee, Minnesota Timberwolves star Karl-Anthony Towns is poised to make his much-anticipated comeback on Friday.

Towns, who last saw action on March 4 before succumbing to injury, underwent surgery four weeks ago to address the issue. Following a rigorous rehabilitation process, the dynamic center has been given the green light to return to action and is slated to take the court against the Atlanta Hawks at home.

Having been cleared for full-contact, 5-on-5 basketball activities earlier this week, Towns appears primed and ready to rejoin his teammates on the hardwood.

With the regular season finale against the Phoenix Suns looming on Sunday, Towns’ return couldn’t come at a more opportune moment for the Timberwolves. The team, buoyed by a commendable 11-6 record in Towns’ absence, finds itself in a tight playoff race in the competitive Western Conference.

Towns’ absence has been keenly felt, as the Timberwolves look to solidify their postseason aspirations. Before his injury, Towns had been enjoying a stellar campaign, averaging 22.1 points and 8.4 rebounds per game while shooting an impressive 50.6% from the field and 42.3% from beyond the arc.

With the Timberwolves currently tied with the Oklahoma City Thunder at 55-25, just one game behind the Denver Nuggets (56-24) in the standings, Towns’ return injects a much-needed boost of confidence and firepower as they seek to secure a favorable playoff position.
