Boston should at least consider adding a little more veteran depth due to injuries

It seems like the Red Sox have made the right decision so far. Boston’s rotation arguably has been the best in baseball to this point and has surprised people. Each hurler has done their part and has been solid.

Although the Red Sox have gotten off to a hot start this season in the rotation, Boston currently is missing an important piece in Nick Pivetta. He is dealing with an elbow flexor strain and should be back soon, but still, an elbow injury is concerning.

Injuries have been popping up all across baseball to pitchers and although it has been speculated that Pivetta will be back soon, it wouldn’t hurt to add more depth just in case he misses more time than expected or other injuries pop up.

One player who still is available and could make a lot of sense for Boston is one-time All-Star Noah Syndergaard. He surprisingly still is available in free agency and at this point likely could be had on a minor league deal.

Syndergaard was holding out for a big league deal, but now the 2024 campaign is in full swing and likely will have to settle. He has a career 3.71 ERA in eight big league seasons and could help Boston out.

With Pivetta out, Cooper Criswell currently is Boston’s depth option who has helped fill in. At this point, why not add more depth with upside just in case?
