Predicted Hull City team for crucial Watford trip with defensive reshuffle on the cards
The Tigers have just four games of their Championship season remaining
Boss Liam Rosenior will face quite the selection headache on Saturday as he looks to mastermind an 11th away win of what could yet be a memorable season for Hull City.
Lewie Coyle is available again after missing the weekend win over QPR with a back complaint he’s been nursing since the Easter Monday trip to Leeds United. His influence is crucial to City, but Regan Slater has adapted well since being moved to play on the right side of the back four.
Bringing skipper Coyle back for his influence and experience is important, though Slater will feel he’s done more than enough in the last three games to warrant retaining his place.
Elsewhere, Rosenior is unlikely to meddle with things too much given his side have won two of their last three and scored eight goals in the process. January arrival Ryan Giles is pushing for a return to the starting XI, but Matty Jacob has performed well and deserves another chance to impress at left-back.
Their front four of Ozan Tufan, Fabio Carvalho, Jaden Philogene and Abdus Omur have all been in electric form and have netted seven of those eight goals in the past three outings.
Liam Delap came off the bench against Rangers to make his long-awaited return after three months out and gave a glimpse of what City had been missing during his absence, though it’s unlikely he’ll be considered ready for a start so early in his comeback and will likely remain on the bench and if Anass Zaroury is passed fit, he’ll almost certainly start on the bench.
City’s predicted starting XI: Allsop, Jacob, Greaves, Jones, Coyle, Seri, Morton, Jaden, Omur, Tufan, Carvalho.
