Matt George discusses potential offseason trades for the Kings
Matt George, host of the Locked On Kings podcast, joined Stiles and Watkins Tuesday afternoon to discuss the current state of the NBA postseason and dive into the potential offseason trade landscape from the perspective of the Sacramento Kings.
The Los Angeles Lakers were eliminated after winning just one game against the Denver Nuggets, and the New Orleans Pelicans (who eliminated the Kings in the play-in) failed to win a game against the top-seeded Oklahoma City Thunder. Because of that recency, the trio started their conversation by reflecting on Sacramento’s season now that some time has passed.
In the playoffs, it’s all about matchups, and George believes Sacramento would have fared better than New Orleans in the opening round.
“The Kings would have gotten at least a game in this series because Sacramento has matched up and played well against OKC many, many times throughout this season,” Matt George said.
As they continued, the discussion shifted to potential offseason moves, primarily in the form of trades. What do the Kings need to aim for? What sort of players catch your attention? Chris Watkins continued to share his ‘Big Fish’ target list and got the perspective of guest Matt George. Should Keegan Murray be considered essentially untouchable?
Check out the conversation for plenty of great Sacramento Kings offseason debates.
When is the next Sacramento Kings offseason date of interest?
For the first time in two years, the Sacramento Kings will be crossing its fingers for luck during the upcoming NBA Draft Lottery.
The 2024 NBA Draft Lottery will be held on Sunday, May 12, 2024, in Chicago, where Sacramento will have the 13th-best odds of securing the top pick.
How the Lottery works: The 14 teams that missed out on the NBA playoffs are eligible for the Draft Lottery. The final odds were determined after the regular season, and tie breaks were settled between teams with identical regular season records.
