‘I know for a fact’: Journalist claims £60 million striker was anxious to join Tottenham.

Over the last six months, Ivan Toney has been the talk of the transfer window.

Many prominent Premier League clubs, including Arsenal and Chelsea, are rumored to be interested in the Brentford striker.

However, Toney once had his heart set on a move to Tottenham, according to Martin Lipton on The Spurs Show Podcast.

Indeed, Lipton said on the podcast that he knew for a fact that Toney was desperate to join Spurs 18 months ago, when Manchester United actually believed they had a chance of landing Harry Kane.

Ivan Toney was desperate to join Spurs.
Lipton revealed what he knew about the £60 million man.

“I know for a fact that 18 months ago, when United thought they were going to get Kane, Toney was desperate to go to Spurs, and his agent was pushing really hard,” Lipton told the BBC.

Ivan Toney is still a good signing.
Toney appeared to be interested in a move to Tottenham, and if he still is, Tottenham should reconsider.

Indeed, as fantastic as Spurs have been this season, the reality is that they have yet to really replace Harry Kane, and Toney could be the perfect replacement.

The Brentford striker is highly clinical in front of goal, and as he approaches the end of his contract, he’ll be desperate to join a major club.

Of course, competition from Arsenal and Chelsea makes things difficult, but we’ve seen Tottenham flex their muscles in the transfer market before.

This is one to keep an eye on because Toney appears to be open to a move to Tottenham if the opportunity arises.
