Breaking News: The Green Bay Packers’ offence will take on the Giants’ outstanding quarterback, whose startling availability was revealed.

Tommy DeVito will start at QB for Giants vs. Green Bay Packers

Tommy DeVito will be the quarterback Monday night for the New York Giants when they face the Green Bay Packers, head coach Brian Daboll said on Tuesday.

With 13-year veteran Tyrod Taylor, who began the season as the backup to Daniel Jones, expected to come off injured reserve in time for Monday’s game, there had been a question about which quarterback the Giants would go forward with.

Daboll put that question to rest on Tuesday.

“I just thought Tommy earned it,” Daboll said, adding that DeVito had “played two good games.”

DeVito has gone 2-1 as a starter, with the former New Jersey high school star becoming a cult hero along the way.

DeVito, 25, was voted the Rookie of the Week for his performance against the Commanders in Week 11, a game in which he completed 69.2 percent of his passes for 246 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions for a 137.7 passer rating (the highest of any undrafted rookie in the common draft era).

DeVito, an undrafted free agent who started the season on the practice squad, has completed 66 of 105 passes (62.9) for 697 yards with seven touchdowns and three interceptions in five games this season.

Daboll said that Taylor handled the decision like a pro.

“Those conversations are never easy,” he said.
