Buccaneers’ Mike Evans Reveals New Thoughts On Future
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have had an up-and-down 2023 NFL season, but are currently still involved in the hunt for the playoffs in the NFC. Baker Mayfield has been solid and superstar wide receiver Mike Evans has once again put up a monstrous season. Some things never change and Evans’ consistency for Tampa Bay is one of those things.
Evans was talked about as a potential trade candidate before the season and then again ahead of the NFL trade deadline. However, the Buccaneers chose to hold onto him. He will be able to hit the free agency market this offseason and it will be interesting to see what ends up happening.
If he does become available, there will be a ton of suitors lining up with interest in signing him. He is truly one of the most underrated stars in the entire NFL.
Mike Evans Recently Revealed New Thoughts About His Buccaneers’ Future
After the Buccaneers defeated the Carolina Panthers by a final score of 21-18 in Week 13 NFL action, Evans spoke out and revealed new thoughts about his future in Tampa Bay. The comments he made may not make Tampa Bay fans feel comfortable.
“I don’t know. When that moment comes it’ll come, but right now, I’m focused on trying to get this team to the playoffs.”
Clearly, he has not had great contract discussions with the Buccaneers. Either that, or he is somewhat interested in testing the open market to see what else is out there. Seeing him in a jersey other than a Buccaneers’ uniform would be very strange.
So far this season in 12 games, Evans has caught 61 passes for 1,012 yards and 10 touchdowns. He has now produced 10 straight 1,000-yard receiving seasons. In other words, he has had at least 1,000 receiving yards in every single season that he has played in his NFL career.
At 30 years of age, Evans is entering what could be his last chance for a major contract. He is still in the prime of his career, but that is coming to an end quickly. This offseason will be his one chance to join another team and be a superstar elsewhere should he want to do so.
Expect to hear a ton of rumors about Mike Evans and the Buccaneers as the offseason draws closer. The two parties have some tough decisions to make ahead.
