Miami Dolphins Ready To Bench Star Offensive Weapon Against New York Jets

Dolphins' Tyreek Hill, who is newly married, in middle of 2 paternity suits

The Miami Dolphins seem pretty serious about benching star wide receiver Tyreek Hill this week against the New York Jets. Head coach Mike McDaniel said Thursday the team was going to make a decision for his availability against the Jets that would protect his long-term status.

The Miami Dolphins are close to benching Hill

Hill suffered an ankle injury during the Dolphins loss to the Tennessee Titans in Week 14. The 9-4 Dolphins are being cautious not to push Hill, as he did not practice Wednesday or Thursday. According to Ian Rapoport with the NFL Network, McDaniel said Hill will not practice Friday and will be listed as questionable to play the Jets this weekend.

The Dolphins should have enough firepower on offense to beat the 5-8 Jets

It makes sense for the team to look out for Hill’s ankle this week. The Dolphins need him 100 percent when they advance to the postseason.

Will missing a game hurt Hill’s chances in the NFL MVP race?

However, missing a game would be costly to Hill’s ambitions. Hill currently has +750 odds to win the NFL MVP award this season. Of course, the more valuable he is on the field, the more the Dolphins will want to protect him for the playoffs.

Voters should take that into account.
