Yankees Linked To Superstar Fireballer In Free Agency After Spectacular Season

Texas Rangers Strengthen Repeat Chances By Adding Reliever Josh Hader - Sports Illustrated Texas Rangers News, Analysis and More

The New York Yankees may end up landing one of the best relief pitchers in baseball this offseason. New York had the best bullpen in baseball last year but has some work to do as the club could lose a few of its most reliable relievers this offseason. Although this is the case, New York still easily could have the best bullpen again next year. Especially if the Yankees make an addition or two in free agency. One player who has been mentioned as a possible option for the Yankees is former Milwaukee Brewers and San Diego Padres superstar Josh Hader, according to MLB Network’s Jon Morosi.

“Josh Hader is still out there,” Morosi said. “Robert Stephenson is still out there. Jordan Hicks who probably on the 26th of December could throw a ball 200 miles per hour on this day if he wanted to is still out there as well. There are still some teams that are very aggressive in this area and our own Tom Verducci has talked about the (Los Angeles Dodgers) as not being done yet. They still may make a move for Josh Hader. “The (Los Angeles Angels) we know are very involved in the bullpen market. The (Texas Rangers) have been in there and involved in the bullpen market. So have the Yankees. I think that group of very aggressive teams could account for these three names that I have mentioned.” New York certainly has money to spend after missing out on former Orix Buffaloes ace Yoshinobu Yamamoto. Hader likely will be the most expensive free-agent reliever this offseason and could be a perfect pickup for New York.

The five-time All-Star logged an eye-popping 1.28 ERA in 61 appearances for the Padres last season and has a career 2.50 ERA in seven big league seasons.
