San Francisco 49ers $16M Starter Suddenly In Doubt To Play Against The Green Bay Packers (Breaking)

The San Francisco 49ers will face the Green Bay Packers in the divisional round of the 2023-24 playoffs.  After clinching a first-round bye, 49ers fans probably didn’t expect the Packers to be their opponent.  Four straight wins, however, have propelled the Packers into one of the league’s eight remaining teams.

ESPN has the 49ers as heavy favorites against the Packers (9.5 points).  They could, however, be missing a key starter on Saturday.

As the 49ers prepare for their first playoff game of 2024, Dre Greenlaw wasn’t available at Tuesday’s practice.

Coach Kyle Shanahan confirmed that the linebacker will miss practice due to Achilles tendinitis. The injury caused Greenlaw to miss the team’s final regular-season game.

Taking on lead blockers and being isolated in coverage are all part of the dirty work Greenlaw does on the 49ers defense. This statistic may surprise some, but Dre has been targeted more than any other NFL linebacker this season. Greenlaw still ranks among the top half of linebackers in tackles for loss and passes defended in the NFL.

If Greenlaw is unable to go, the middle of the field may be a little more open for the Packers in both the run and passing game.  It will be a key name to watch as the week continues.
