3 Rams free agents Tampa Bay offensive coordinator Liam Coen could pursue

Former offensive coordinator Dave Canales’ impressive revamp of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ offense unsurprisingly drew interest to fill the Carolina Panthers’ vacant head coach position. Weeks later, the Buccaneers have found their replacement, former Los Angeles Rams offensive coordinator Liam Coen.

Coen comes off a one-year stint as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach with the University of Kentucky, where he had previously served in the same role in 2021. In 2022, Coen led the Rams’ offense as offensive coordinator, where he worked closely with quarterback Baker Mayfield in the latter half of the season.

Which Rams free agents could reunite with Coen in Tampa Bay?

Kevin Dotson

Four years into his career, Kevin Dotson had the breakout season that he’d been awaiting. Dotson made his debut with the Rams during a Week 4 victory over the Indianapolis Colts. His performance was enough for the guard to earn a starting spot at right guard for the remainder of the season.

Buccaneers right guard Cody Mauch had a solid rookie year, but Tampa Bay could have an opening on the left side as Aaron Stinnie approaches free agency. A talented run blocker like Dotson could be hard for the Buccaneers to pass up in 2024.

Troy Reeder

The Buccaneers have difficult decisions ahead of them with Lavonte David and Devin White up for free agency. Either way, the team may want to consider Troy Reeder as a quality depth player at linebacker. Reeder has spent all five of his NFL seasons in Los Angeles, four of which were spent with the Rams and one with the Chargers.

Reeder put up personal-best numbers in 2021 and helped the Rams to a Super Bowl victory with 91 tackles, two sacks, and two interceptions throughout the season. The linebacker could be a force for the Buccaneers on special teams while having the potential to develop into a starter.

Demarcus Robinson

Wide receiver Demarcus Robinson ended the 2023 season on a high note, recording 21 catches for 319 yards in the final six weeks of the season. The Buccaneers’ receiving room has question marks revolving around it this offseason, as longtime leading receiver Mike Evans will be testing free agency.

Though the Buccaneers have expressed their desire to bring Evans back, all hands may need to be on deck in 2024 to fill a potentially massive gap. In the event that Evans leaves, Chris Godwin would likely step up as a solid No. 1 receiver and Trey Palmer would become WR2. In this case, Robinson could have an immediate impact as a third option.
