Padres Sign Former Dodgers Outfielder to Minor League Deal
The San Diego Padres have added outfield depth to their minor league system.
Earlier this month, the Friars signed free agent outfielder Zach Reks to a minor league contract, according to the team’s transaction log.
Reks started his major league career with the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2021.
The Dodgers drafted the 30-year-old in the 10th round of the 2017 MLB Draft.
He appeared in six games and had 10 at-bats in Los Angelees. His time in L.A was short-lived, as he was traded to the Texas Rangers after the 2021 season. As a Dodger, he only collected two runs and seven strikeouts.
His time with the Rangers in 2022 was a bit longer, playing in 16 games. He slashed .265/.265/.294 with a .559 OPS.
Reks will return to Major League Baseball after playing Korea in 2023.
In 55 games for the Lotte Giants, Reks slashed .246/.338/.345 with four home runs and 30 runs batted in.
