JACOB SIGNS LONG-TERM CONTRACT
Hull City are delighted to announce that left-back Matty Jacob has signed a new long-term contract.
The 22-year-old has agreed a three-year deal, which includes a club option of a further year.
Joining the academy at Under-9s, the Barnsley-born full-back has made eight appearances for the Tigers, the first of which coming at Sheffield Wednesday on New Year’s Day.
The defender memorably marked his maiden senior start in black and amber with a late equaliser against Birmingham City to rescue an FA Cup third-round replay.
The former Pickering Town and Gateshead loanee has made seven Championship appearances this season, comprising two starts, against Norwich City and Sunderland, and five substitute outings.
Head coach Liam Rosenior said: “Really pleased and thoroughly deserved. Matty epitomises the culture and the values of what we set. He’s got family ties to the club, which I absolutely love.
“Matty has been unlucky with injury in previous months, but I always had a feeling that once he got his opportunity, he would grab it.
“For him to commit his future to us long term is fantastic. I love working with him and he has got the mentality and the temperament to keep improving.”
