San Diego still needs to make another move or two soon

The San Diego Padres are loaded with talent but still could use another addition or two before Opening Day.

San Diego’s biggest areas of weakness right now are in the outfield and starting rotation. The Padres traded away Juan Soto and Trent Grisham to the New York Yankees and still are looking for ways to fill the holes left by them.

The Padres have been linked to multiple outfielders in free agency as well as possible trade candidates. It’s unclear if they will be able to land another one, but it is clear that the Padres still are looking, according to the New York Post’s Jon Heyman.

There still are some very solid options available who could be of some help for the Padres. One player who could make a lot of sense for San Diego without breaking the bank is Duvall.

He spent the 2023 season with the Red Sox and still is looking for his next opportunity. There had been plenty of speculation that Boston could look for a reunion with Duvall, but the club reportedly signed fellow slugger C.J. Cron on Friday which could mean they are done adding right-handed bats.

Duvall is a one-time All-Star who also has a Gold Glove Award under his belt and can play all three outfield positions. He clubbed 21 home runs last season and drove in 58 runs.
