Analyst Links Free Agent CB To The Packers
Given the recent health concerns of Jaire Alexander, the Green Bay Packers could be in the market to add some depth to their secondary this offseason.
Alexander played just seven games this past season, and played only four in 2021.
While Alexander, Eric Stokes, and Carrington Valentine are all under contract through at least 2026, a high-profile name is now being linked to the Packers as The Athletic’s Matt Schneidman is reporting CJ Henderson as a potential target for Green Bay.
The former No. 9 overall pick has had a rocky start to his career and is coming off a season where he deflected only two passes and failed to record an interception.
Henderson’s saw a decreased snap count in 2023 and Carolina declined to pick up his fifth-year rookie option as he heads into free agency.
He was even a healthy scratch multiple times down the stretch, which is not great for his leverage heading into free-agency negotiations.
Regardless, teams will still line up to take a chance on the 25-year-old former top-ten pick.
Given Alexander’s health, Valentine’s still exciting but uncertain future, and Keisean Nixon hitting free agency, there are a lot of potential snaps available in Green Bay’s cornerback room.
