Who may the Packers be looking for in a trade?

The GM has said more than once that the team could trade for a veteran. But who?

Brian Gutekunst doesn’t just talk to talk. When the Green Bay Packers general manager says something, especially concerning the NFL draft, he usually does it.

Back in 2020 when asked about the possibility of selecting a quarterback, Gutekunst said if there was one he liked he would take him. He moved up a few spots and took Jordan Love.

Last year when asked about offensive linemen, Gutekunst said he really wasn’t all that interested since the team already had 13 on its roster. Three days and 13 picks later the Packers did not take an offensive linemen.

So when the GM says more than once this year that with 11 total picks, including five in the first three rounds that he could use some of that ammunition to trade for a veteran. More than an eyebrow should be raised. The Packers are likely to make a trade. Heck, one might already be in place just waiting for the league season to open.

It’s anybody guess just who exactly the Packers are targeting in a possible trade. So here are a few of mine:

Budda Baker, S, Arizona Cardinals

Should The Packers Trade For All Pro Safety Budda Baker? Packers News & Rumors

The Packers only have one safety on their current roster, Anthony Johnson Jr. a 2023 seventh-round draft pick. Baker, who has been the subject of trade rumors the past two offseasons, would fill the team’s biggest need. The 27-year-old, who has been to six Pro Bowls in seven years, is in the final year of his contract and the Cards might be willing to get something for him before he leaves as a free agent. In a below average group of safeties in this draft, the Packers may have to get a veteran one way or another.

Haason Reddick, LB, Philadelphia Eagles

The Eagles have given the 29-year-old Reddick and his agent permission to seek a trade since the 6-1, 240-pound LB probably does not fit well in their new 3-4 Vic Fangio defense. He fit pretty well in their old 4-3, however. Over his two seasons with the Eagles he had 27 1/2 sacks. Over the past four seasons, one with Arizona, one with Carolina, he had 50 1/2 sacks and 13 forced fumbles. He’s also never missed a game in his seven-year career. Reddick rushing from a stand-up spot behind Rashan Gary at defensive end, could be scary.

L’Jarius Sneed, CB, Kansas City Chiefs

Sneed could be franchise tagged, but that might not stop the Chiefs from trading him. The 6-1,192-pound corner is coming off a season where he did not allow a touchdown on 100 targets and forced quarterbacks into a a rating of just 56.2. in four years, the 27-year-old corner has 10 interceptions 40 PBUs, four forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries. Sneed and Jaire Alexander would give the Packers the best set of cornerbacks in the league.
