Reds release MLB Spring Breakout roster featuring Edwin Arroyo, Rhett Lowder  & others

MLB Spring Breakout will feature the best young players in baseball.

Major League Baseball is testing something new this spring. No, it’s not the ghost runner on second base during extra innings or banning the defensive shift – those are old news.

This year, MLB Spring Breakout will pit some of the top prospects in the game against one another and allow fans the opportunity to see some of their favorite team’s best young prospects on the field at the same time.

While Reds fans never got see Cam Collier share the field with Blake Dunn last season, they’ll get to see that next week. MLB Spring Breakout is held at various locations throughout Florida and Arizona from March 14-17, 2023.

The Cincinnati Reds will actually be the first team to take the field next week when they battle the Texas Rangers on March 14th at 6:05 p.m. ET. The Reds will also host the Cleveland Guardians a couple days later on March 16th at 7:05 p.m. ET. Both games are available on MLB digital platforms which include the MLB app, MLB.com, and MLBTV.

As for the roster, the Reds will be sending some of their top prospects, including Rhett Lowder, Edwin Arroyo, Carlos Jorge, and Sal Stewart. Lowder and Arroyo are both non-roster invitees this spring, but neither is expected to break camp with the big league team.

Outfielders Ethan O’Donnell and Jacob Hurtubise will be part of the action. In addition to Lowder seeing some time on the hill, Julian Aguiar and Ty Floyd will be part of the Reds roster as well.

If you’re a fan of minor league baseball, or are interested in seeing the next young crop of talent about hit the city of Cincinnati, be sure to tune in to the MLB Spring Breakout. The games are only seven innings, but there’s no three-batter minimum. So it’s possible for Reds fans to see multiple pitchers appear in one inning so as to showcase as much of the farm system’s talent as possible.

MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred doesn’t hit it out the park often, but this is a home run on the part of Major League Baseball.
