Striker makes surprise transfer move after Hull City agree contract decision

Striker Jim Simms has left the club after having his contract cancelled

The youngster launched a new career elsewhere at the weekend after leaving the Tigers’ academy

Striker Jim Simms has seen his contract at Hull City cancelled by mutual consent, bringing an end to a short-lived career at the MKM Stadium, having arrived in the summer of 2022 from Oldham Athletic.

The 20-year-old striker has since moved to Wythenshawe Town FC where he made his debut on Saturday, playing alongside ex-City frontman George Boyd in a 3-1 win over Barnoldswick Town in the North West Counties League Premier Division.

Simms had trained regularly with Liam Rosenior’s first team but never made a first team appearance for the Tigers and spent various spells out on loan but has now moved on.

Hull City | Jim Simms

“He played an influential role in helping the Tigers reach the national play-offs in the Professional Development League for only the second time in the club’s history, along with being an unused substitute for the first team in their mid-season friendlies in Türkiye against Trabzonspor and İstanbul Başakşehir F.K. Spending time on loan at Buxton, Darlington and Ashton United during his Tigers’ career, the 20-year-old made 35 appearances in total for City, scoring 17 goals and registering 11 assists. We would like to thank Jim for his services to the club and wish him the very best for his future career.”
