Nathan Patterson to leave Everton this summer after what happened with Sean Dyche

Nathan Patterson may have played his final game for Everton already after an incident with Sean Dyche in Portugal this week.

The Toffees headed to Portugal for a warm-weather training camp as they looked to get some hard sessions in during their three-week break from fixtures ahead of the upcoming international break.

But the trip took a turn for the worse when Dyche slapped Patterson on the back of the head as a joke and it wasn’t appreciated by the player or the rest of the squad.

In fact it got so bad that James Tarkowski had to step in and the manager was forced to apologise, but it now seems like a situation that surely cannot be resurrected.

Nathan Patterson to leave Everton?

Patterson has already found himself relegated to fourth-choice right-back by the boss behind Ben Godfrey, Seamus Coleman and Ashley Young and hasn’t played a single minute since February.

His future at the club already seemed quite bleak, but this incident is surely going to put him over the edge and an exit in the summer now seems inevitable.

Everton have got just ten games remaining this season and with relegation very much a possibility, the chances of him getting any relevant game time that could turn his career around seems slim to none.

With the club’s financial situation grim and player sales expected in the summer regardless of what happens with the 777 takeover this month, Patterson is a player who has performed at a high level and is young enough that he could be seen as an asset.

Clubs will be willing to pay a good fee and he will play regularly, while Dyche will be ridding himself of a potential issue rearing it’s head again.

It would be a huge shame that a player with such potential seems certain to move on, but that is the way things have played out.
