January signing ‘doing really well’ as he finds feet at Stoke City

News from the bet365 Stadium as Stoke City prepare for home match against West Bromwich Albion

Daniel Iversen is playing ‘a huge part’ at Stoke City now he is finding his feet on loan from Leicester.

The 26-year-old keeper had been kicking his heels in the stands at Leicester for seven months before he joined Stoke in January and he has gradually grown in influence, helping Stoke pull themselves out of the relegation zone over the last few weeks.

There are still six games remaining to secure their status in the Championship, starting this weekend at home against West Brom, and he will play a big role in getting the job over the line.

Steven Schumacher said: “It probably took a little bit of time to get going without playing badly at all, I wouldn’t say any goal was his fault since he came in. I don’t think he made any outstanding error.

“But I would say in the last eight or 10 games, finding his feet is probably a good way to describe it and he’s made big saves for us at important times. That’s what you need your goalkeeper to do.

“At Hull, when they went through one on one across the box and it looked like Billy Sharp was going to tap it in at the back post, Daniel intercepted it and made the save and it was similar late on at the near post. That played a huge part because we went on and scored a late goal to seal it in injury time.
