Why the Titans Should Pursue Elite Safety Justin Simmons

Kansas City Chiefs

The Tennessee Titans have been very active in free agency making good moves which include trading for cornerback L’Jarius Sneed and signing wide receiver Calvin Ridley.

One thing that the Titans would probably like to do would be to continue to sign players who can really make an impact on the team’s future success. One ideal signing would be to go after safety Justin Simmons, who could bolster an already strong defensive secondary unit.

After trading for former Kansas City Chiefs cornerback L’Jarius Sneed and signing former Cincinnati Bengals cornerback Chidobe Awuzie, the team has a strong secondary going into the 2024 season. If the Titans were to sign Justin Simmons, it could make the Titans one of the most elite secondaries in the entire National Football League.

What Simmons can bring to the Titans

Since being drafted by the Denver Broncos in the 2016 NFL Draft, Simmons has proved himself as one of the NFL’s most reliable safeties in the entire league. He has spent seven years, his whole NFL career, with the Broncos before being released in March of 2024.

During his time as a Bronco, Simmons has played in 118 games. Within those 118 games, he has recorded 603 tackles, four and a half sacks, 30 interceptions, and 64 passes defended. Simmons was a fan favorite for the Broncos fanbase, being one of their healthiest and most reliable players.

Over his seven-year career, Simmons only missed 10 games due to injury. He has proven to be a strong and reliable starter for the Broncos who made game-changing plays week in and week out.

Pairing him with Amani Hooker and an elite group of defenders, it could make the Titans a defense that could wreak havoc on any opposing NFL offense.

Plus, having two Simmons on the same team might cause confusion in terms of names but both Justin and Jeffrey could be a magnificent duo that could lead the Titans to much success.
