Green Bay Packers Bring In Little-Known Elite Prospect On Official Visit (Report)
The Green Bay Packers have been doing their homework this off-season leading up to the 2024 NFL Draft. With five draft picks in the first three rounds the Packers have plenty of firepower to move up, move down, or just stay put and add some serious weapons.
A report came out today that the Packers brought in an under-the-radar prospect who is quietly projected to go in the first round.
The Green Bay Packers Bring Under-The-Radar Prospect For Official Visit
Marshawn Kneeland of Western Michigan will visit the Green Bay Packers ahead of the 2024 NFL draft, NFL Network reports. Kneeland will have visited 16 teams during the pre-draft process.
The 6-3, 267-pound Kneeland played in 38 games (23 starts) during four seasons at Western Michigan. In addition to 28.0 tackles for loss, 13.0 sacks, three forced fumbles, and three pass breakups, he also recorded 3 pass breakups. His 2023 accomplishments included being named to the second team of the MAC and serving as team captain.
Would The Packers Be Interested In Drafting An Edge Rusher?
The future of the Packers’ EDGE position is led by Rashan Gary and Lukas Van Ness. Preston Smith has suddenly found himself as the oldest player on the Packers’ team (31-years-old). He is currently under contract though the 2026 season and it would be surprising to see the Packers give a 33-year-old pass rusher another long-term contract.
In fact, Smith is expected to have a cap hit of $17M in 2025 and $18M in 2026. It will be interesting to see if the Packers choose to keep him around after the 2024 season.
At the end of the day, if there is an edge, they like they should grab him. Preston is not gonna be around for long and injuries are a constant in this league. You can never have too many pass rushers
