EMU Offensive Lineman Brian Dooley Signs with Tennessee Titans

Former Eagle Marcellus Johnson also signs with the New York Giants

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — Former Eastern Michigan University offensive lineman Brian Dooley (Bowling Green, Ohio/Toledo St. John’s Jesuit) has signed a free agent contract with the NFL’s Tennessee Titans today, April 27. The all-time leader in career games played and started at EMU, Dooley made national headlines with an incredibly selfless act that earned him the 2023 Disney Spirit Award.

A cornerstone of Eastern Michigan football since the 2018 season, Dooley led the Eagles offensive line in the 2023 campaign. Dooley’s second-team All-MAC selection goes down as the third of the graduate student’s career, as he earned third-team honors in 2021 before garnering a second-team accolade in 2022.

The ‘Iron Man’ of EMU football, Dooley holds the school record in both games played and started, with 60 starts and 62 games played, figures that also rank in the top-three on the national scale among active players. On the field for 4,0541 career snaps, the Bowling Green, Ohio, product allowed quarterback pressures on just four percent of his all-time offensive snaps.

Since 1996 the Disney Spirit Award has been presented every year by Walt Disney World Resort to the most inspirational figures in college football. The award was created to honor people like Dooley who demonstrate an indomitable spirit and a willingness to help others. His dedication to the community is impressive, having participated in a mission trip to Guatemala and regularly volunteering in schools near campus where he has logged more than 100 hours. But perhaps his most selfless act came ahead of the 2023 season when he gave his full-ride scholarship to a fellow lineman who was working construction and donating plasma to try and pay for tuition.

As one of the MAC’s most prolific tackles, Dooley has earned nominations to many prestigious college football awards including the Wuerffel Trophy, an award presented to college football’s top community servant, and the Witten Award, an honor bestowed upon an individual who has demonstrated a record of leadership by exhibiting exceptional courage, integrity and sportsmanship both on and off the field.

Since 2015, Eastern football has had six players drafted and 28 more sign free-agent or mini-camps deals. Continue to follow EMUEagles.com and social media for additional free agent signings as they happen.
