Milwaukee Bucks: Patrick Beverley Receives Ban from Major Media Outlet Following Game 6 Postgame Fiasco

The Milwaukee Bucks have been sent home early in the first round of the NBA Playoffs for the second year in a row. Last season, they were without two-time NBA MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo for Games Two and Three against the Miami Heat. This year, Giannis missed the entire series against the Indiana Pacers due to a soleus injury and Damian Lillard suffered a strained Achilles.

Not only were Giannis and Dame injured for the series against the Pacers, but three-time All-Star Khris Middleton battled through a sprained ankle in his attempt to keep the Bucks alive. Unfortunately, he did not get much help from Milwaukee’s bench outside of a dominating Game Five win.

Patrick Beverley Had an Inconsistent Series for the Milwaukee Bucks

One of the players that was given a larger role without Giannis and Dame playing in every game (Lillard missed Game Five and was a game-time decision for Game Six) was Patrick Beverley. In Milwaukee’s two wins in the series, he averaged nine points,10 assists, and two steals per game while shooting 50% from the floor.

In the losses, however, Beverley averaged 7.8 points, 3.3 assists, and 0.5 steals per game while shooting 37% from the floor.

Unfortunately for the Bucks and Beverley, his poor play in their losses was not what was talked about following their elimination. Instead, it was his embarrassing interactions with fans and the media.

Milwaukee Bucks Point Guard Patrick Beverley Went Viral for All the Wrong Reasons

With two minutes remaining in the Bucks’ blowout loss in Game Six, Beverley was seen on camera aggressively and forcefully throwing a basketball at a Pacers fan seated behind Milwaukee’s bench. Beverley claimed that the fan had been harassing the Bucks’ bench all game and that they had asked for help from officials, but were not given any.

Regardless of what the fan might have been saying, Beverley’s response was uncalled for and has brought a NBA investigation upon the organization.

In addition to his antics towards a fan, Beverley also refused to answer questions from ESPN producer Malinda Adams after the game because she does not subscribe to his podcast.

Adams later revealed that Beverley called her to apologize for the incident after receiving blowback from both fans and analysts. However, ESPN did not take the snub lightly.

Patrick Beverley Is Banned from Appearing on Any ESPN Productions

According to Front Office Sports, Beverley is now banned from ever appearing on any ESPN productions. In the past, he has appeared on Steven A. Smith’s First Take as the two are good friends. However, even Smith could not defend Beverley’s actions. “I just can’t believe he did that,” Smith said on First Take on Friday. “I’ve known Patrick Beverley for years. I love the brother. It’s inexcusable. It’s indefensible.”

Beverley will be a free agent this upcoming season and will turn 36 years old this summer. While he undoubtedly will be back in the NBA next year, his future with the Bucks remains undetermined.
