Troubling Report Emerges About Cavs, Jarrett Allen
The Cleveland Cavaliers limped their way through the finish line this season.
Jarrett Allen, Donovan Mitchell, and Caris LeVert were all out for Game 5 vs. the Boston Celtics, and it was a fitting end for a campaign that saw Darius Garland, Evan Mobley, and Mitchell all miss some time with different ailments.
Notably, Allen missed half of the postseason run with a rib injury, and while he was a true ironman by playing 81 regular-season games and anchoring the defense with and without Mobley, it seems like his teammates weren’t happy with the way he dealt with his injury.
According to a report by Shams Charania, some players and teammates felt like Allen could’ve done more to play, and they resented the fact that he refused to get an injection to numb the pain and try to play.
Allen suffered the injury in Game 1 of the first-round, but he played through it until an elbow by Franz Wagner aggravated the injury.
He reportedly had trouble raising his arms, and he wasn’t on the court for the remainder of the postseason.
It’s hard to judge a professional athlete when he feels like he can’t play, especially one that had made 81 regular-season appearances.
Then again, his colleagues have also been in similar situations, so there may have been something more to this story that we haven’t heard of.
Whatever the case, the Cavs were still up for a massive challenge with or without Allen, and they have some major decisions to make this offseason.
