MLB Report: The Atlanta Braves finalized a $120 million deal to sign Oklahoma State’s right-handed pitcher and outfielder.

MLB Pipeline projects Carson Benge to Braves in mock draft

Syndication: The Oklahoman

Benge is a two-way player that projects to slide in as a right fielder at the pro level

It is two months until the 2024 MLB draft, where the Atlanta Braves will hold the 24th pick. While too deep to have a shot at the top tier talent from the draft, Atlanta has had some luck getting guys down in the lower part of the draft in the past couple of years. Two of the system’s top four prospects were their most recent first round picks, and this year could add another to a system in need of talent.

Over at MLB Pipeline they are busy at work preparing for draft season, and Thursday night Jim Callis dropped his updated mock draft. In this, Callis has the Braves going the college route and selecting Oklahoma State outfielder and pitcher Carson Benge. Callis has the Braves selecting Benge as an outfielder, as though he does have potential on the mound most scouts agree that he is a better fit as a power hitting outfielder.

Benge is most notable for his bat-to-ball skill, but he also produces high exit velocities and has come alive with 15 home runs for the Cowboys this spring. He is expected to slot in as a corner outfielder, though he has the ability with the bat to profile well there as long as he can turn his raw power into more game power.
