Dodgers Linked to Veteran Outfielder as Potential Trade Deadline Addition

As the Los Angeles Dodgers continue the season, the need for additional help in the outfield has come into play. Los Angeles has already sent James Outman down to the minor leagues, while Chris Taylor has been in a massive slump all season.

With the July 30 trade deadline still two months away, the Dodgers are doing what they can to stay above water at the position. But that doesn’t mean president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman isn’t doing his due diligence when it comes to scouting players across the league.

According to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic, the Dodgers may be exploring adding an outfielder at the deadline. The name that has come up is veteran right-hander Tommy Pham, currently with the Chicago White Sox.

Pham was linked to Los Angeles during the offseason but he wound up signing in Chicago. The White Sox likely knew that if he performed well through the first part of the year, they then could flip him at the deadline for some assets.

On the season, Pham has hit .294 with three home runs and 12 runs batted in. He has been a solid presence for the White Sox, even with the struggles that the team has seen this season.

Pham was a crucial piece to the Arizona Diamondbacks reaching the World Series last year. In the postseason for Arizona, he hit .279 with three home runs and four runs batted in.

Bringing in another right-handed bat couldn’t hurt as well, giving L.A. more versatility moving forward. The Dodgers will likely make some moves at the deadline and landing Pham could help solidify the roster for the stretch run of the season.
