The Cleveland Cavaliers reached the second round of the 2024 NBA Playoffs where they got knocked out by the high-powered Boston Celtics squad. The Cavs would have done better if Jarrett Allen was healthy during that series, but an upper-body injury prevented him from helping Cleveland battle the eventual Eastern Conference champions.

But the Cavs’ issue with Allen seems to go beyond his availability and health. As pointed out by Zach Buckley of Bleacher Report , Allen and Evan Mobley don’t appear to have the right chemistry on the court. With that in mind, Buckley tried to come up with a trade scenario where the Cavs send Allen to the New Orleans Pelicans in exchange for Dyson Daniels, former Cavs big man Larry Nance Jr., and the No. 21 pick in the 2024 NBA Draft.

Allen has two more years remaining on his current deal and has an annual cap hit of $20 million. The 26-year-old former Texas Longhorns star averaged 16.5 points and 10.5 rebounds to go with 1.1 blocks per game for the Cavaliers in the 2023-24 NBA campaign. In the first round of the playoffs (versus the Orlando Magic), Allen averaged 17.0 points, 10.0 boards, and 1.0 blocks per outing.
