76ers Veteran Has Joined A New Agency Ahead Of Free Agency
The Philadelphia 76ers looked to be a championship contender during the first half of this season, but Joel Embiid’s meniscus injury effectively torpedoed their season, and they ended up losing in the first round of the playoffs to the New York Knicks.
When healthy, they have a very good roster, but there have been plenty of rumors that they will look to make a big move this summer in order to complete their puzzle.
One of their best and most important non-stars is wing Kelly Oubre Jr., who is about to become a free agent this summer.
The 6-foot-7 28-year-old has reportedly switched agencies and joined CAA, per Evan Sidery.
Oubre can play up to three positions and is known as a player who can provide supplemental scoring while contributing on the defensive end as well.
He averaged 15.4 points a game this season after putting up a career-high 20.3 points per game last season while with the Charlotte Hornets.
Oubre signed a one-year contract to become a member of the Sixers late last summer, but early this season, he was involved in a minor controversy.
Early in the season, he was hit by a car while walking in Center City, however, there was no video evidence of the incidents, leading to some questions about what really happened.
He sustained rib, hip, and right leg injuries, and he was briefly hospitalized and ended up missing 11 games as a result.
There have been many rumors that Philly is looking to land forward Paul George, a nine-time All-Star, this summer, which may necessitate letting Oubre leave, in which case, there should be several teams interested in him.
