Philadelphia 76ers guard Cam Payne was arrested Friday morning in Arizona after allegedly not cooperating with police in Scottsdale.

Authorities from the Scottsdale Police Department were called out to a disturbance near 68th Street and Chaparral Road at around 2:44 a.m. and found Payne and another person. Payne was arrested and booked for allegedly refusing to give his name and providing a false report to police.

Payne was booked into jail but released shortly thereafter.

The 29-year-old guard played for the Phoenix Suns from 2019-2023, which could explain why he may have been in the Scottsdale area. He was acquired by the 76ers in February as part of Milwaukee’s trade for Patrick Beverley.

Payne averaged 7.4 points and 2.6 assists per game in 78 contests last season split between the Bucks and Sixers. He has been in the NBA since being taken No. 15 overall in the 2015 draft by the Thunder.
