James Maddison could quit Tottenham after £60million Premier League transfer news
Bryan King thinks Eberechi Eze of Tottenham may be James Maddison’s replacement. After just one season, the former Spurs scout believes Maddison’s stay in North London may be coming to an end. It follows the disclosure by dependable Spurs insider Paul O Keefe via X on June 14 that Eze is among the team’s top transfer targets this summer. The Daily Mail (June 7) revealed that the Crystal Palace player has a minimum £60 million release clause. And King, who is only speaking to Tottenham News, finds it difficult to accept that the team will part with that much cash for Eze if Maddison is still alive.
Could Tottenham replace James Maddison with Eberechi Eze?
Eze has been in sensational form over the past few months.
As a result, the Palace ace was named in Gareth Southgate’s 26-man squad for the 2024 UEFA European Championship, with Maddison missing out.
Whether or not Eze would be an upgrade on Maddison is up for debate, but what Spurs fans will want to see is both players at the club.
If Daniel Levy could complete a deal for Eze while keeping hold of Maddison it would give Ange Postecoglou some exciting squad depth ahead of next season.
