Oklahoma State decommit Jeremiah Johnson commits to Doug Gottlieb at Wisconsin-Green Bay

Jeremiah Johnson, the No. 141 overall ranked 2024 recruit and previous Oklahoma State signee, has committed to Doug Gottlieb at Wisconsin-Green Bay.

Jeremiah Johnson, the No. 141 overall ranked recruit in the 2024 class, has committed to Doug Gottlieb at Wisconsin-Green Bay, his father tells 247Sports.

The 6-foot-3, 170-pound guard was previously committed and signed with the Oklahoma State Cowboys but following a coaching change he opened up his recruitment in late May and has now found his new home.

Johnson has had one of the more inspiring stories of this class overcoming significant adversity to make his way back to becoming a Top150 recruit.

Johnson most recently played his high school basketball at Phoenix (Ariz.) PHHoenix Prep but was originally a member of the 2023 recruiting class breaking out as Top50 recruit in his hometown of Oklahoma City (Okla.) coming up as a star at Putnam City North.

During his sophomore year, Johnson ranked as a Top50 recruit and was in the midst of a big season but was devastatingly cut short one night when he was the victim of a shooting, taking two gunshot wounds that put him in critical condition.

Thankfully, Johnson made it out of the hospital and after losing nearly 50-pounds he began to recover and months later he made his return to the hardwood.

In the aftermath, Johnson decided it was best to recoup his lost time by reclassifying to the 2024 class and it has paid off as he has been able to make his way back into the Top150 and is now on his way to playing college basketball.

Johnson makes for a dynamic guard capable of playing both on and off the ball.

He has quickness and speed and is at his best when getting downhill to get in the paint to create for himself and others but he is also an improving shooter both off the catch and pull.

Playing in the Overtime Elite league this past season, Johnson averaged 18.7 points, 4.2 assists and 4.9 rebounds a game, eclipsing the 20-point mark in seven games.
