Insider Reveals Latest Update On Tua Tagovailoa Contract Talks
Recently, the Jacksonville Jaguars decided to fully commit to star quarterback Trevor Lawrence, signing the former No. 1 overall pick out of Clemson to a five-year deal worth $275 million, making him one of the highest-paid players at his position in the NFL.
Although this was an anticipated move by the Jaguars, it didn’t come without a lot of criticism, as some wonder whether he’s worth committing this much money to, as he hasn’t lived up to expectations during his first three years in the league.
Despite a questionable decision by the Jaguars, the deal is done, which now sets up Miami Dolphins superstar Tua Tagovailoa to get a contract extension that could reset the market for elite quarterbacks in the league.
Over the past few weeks, there has been much speculation about Tagovailoa’s deal and whether the Dolphins were willing to make him the highest-paid quarterback in the league.
According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler via FinsXtra, it may only be a matter of time before Tagovailoa puts pen to paper, as the superstar is expected to get a massive deal.
“There’s a belief that they will get this done,” Fowler said. “This might be the path of least resistance among all the available QBs up for mega deals. He should pass the $50m threshold.”
With Tagovailoa improving year after year while being at the helm of arguably one of the most potent offenses in the NFL, the Crismon Tide product is definitely worth committing to, especially with the team investing in the wide receiver position, adding Odell Beckham Jr. and recently signing Jaylen Waddle to a contract extension.
It’ll be interesting to see how things pan out in Miami and how much Tagovailoa will ultimately get paid moving forward.
