Crystal Palace set to ramp up talks to sign Aster Vranckx

Crystal Palace will soon ramp up the talks to sign 21-year-old Belgian defender Aster Vranckx from Bundesliga club VfL Wolfsburg.

According to reputed Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri, Aster Vranckx is the subject of interest from Crystal Palace. The Eagles are pushing hard to secure the services of the 21-year-old Wolfsburg defender in the summer transfer window. In addition, they are ready to cough up €10 million to sign him from the Bundesliga club.

Aster Vranckx and his struggles

Aster Vranckx has seen his stutter in the last two years. A native of Erps-Kwerps, he spent his formative years in his homeland before arriving in Germany by joining VfL Wolfsburg as a highly-rated defensive prospect in July 2021. However, after a decent debut season at the Bundesliga club, his stock has fallen in the last two years.

The 21-year-old did not feature regularly for AC Milan and was in and out of the starting lineup at Wolfsburg in the 2022/23 season. Vranckx started only 14 games and amassed less than 1,500 minutes of game time across 26 appearances in all competitions for the Bundesliga club in the 2023/24 campaign.

However, Aster Vranckx’s stock in the market remains high, with several clubs, particularly in the Premier League, rating him highly heading into the summer transfer window. A move to England might be on the cards, with Crystal Palace among the prospective suitors for the Belgian international.

London calling?

Reports in last summer’s transfer window had suggested that intermediaries had offered Crystal Palace the chance to sign Aster Vranckx from VfL Wolfsburg. The latest update has revealed that the Eagles are ready to cough up €10 million to secure the Belgian defender’s services in the summer transfer window.

In addition, Crystal Palace will intensify the talks to sign the 21-year-old Wolfsburg defender from the Bundesliga club, with the youngster expected to sign a five-year contract. The South London club’s interest is understandable amid uncertainties surrounding the long-term future of Marc Guehi.

Recent reports have also linked Vranckx with Everton. However, the young Belgian defensive prospect is closing in on moving to Crystal Palace, as talks between the Eagles and VfL Wolfsburg ramp up. The 21-year-old is also a target for Napoli, but Crystal Palace will hope to beat the Partenopei to his signature.
