Hunter Ensley announces his return to Tennessee

Tennessee's Hunter Ensley makes acrobatic slide to score clutch run in ...

He’s back!

Hunter Ensley, one of the true stars of this year’s College World Series, is set to run it back. Though a lot of his teammates will be moving on to the pros, Ensley has opted for another year in Knoxville.

The redshirt junior announced his decision this afternoon via X.

Ensley is MLB Draft eligible, but will forgo that opportunity for at least one more year. The Tennessee native hit .296 this season with 12 home runs and 48 RBI. He scored 45 runs on the season and racked up 64 hits.

With his return, Ensley becomes the unquestioned leader of this team moving forward to 2025. Ensley made his mark on this program in Omaha last month, providing us with two unforgettable moments as the Volunteers powered their way to a National Championship.

Ensley first crashed full speed into the outfield wall against North Carolina. He then pulled off an impossible juke at home plate to cement Tennessee’s win over Texas A&M in the final game of the College World Series Finals.

Ensley will now lead a new cast of characters into the next phase of Tennessee baseball. The Volunteers have already landed a couple of big time transfers in the portal, and more are likely on the way.
