$38.5 million Canucks star Jake Debrusk reveals his decision behind leaving Bruins
season as he signed for the Vancouver Canucks after his 7-year run with the Boston Bruins.
The forward has performed well for the Bruins and has notched 138 goals and 128 assists from the left wing. The player was in high demand from many clubs but chose to sign for the Canucks this summer on a 7-year contract worth $38.5 million.
DeBrusk talked about his decision to leave the Bruins in the latest episode of “The Cam & Strick Podcast.”
“I asked for one in the summer,” DeBrusk said. “Just the kind of way the team is shaping up, when it came to where I was looking where I could possible play in the lineup. And kind of how the year ended, you know I was scratched in the playoffs. I just thought it was time for a fresh start for both sides.”
While mentioning his relentless thankfulness to the city of Boston, he gave them their fair dues as he shared his thoughts about the city he called home for the last seven years in the NHL.
“There’s nothing against the city of Boston,” DeBrusk said. “I love Boston. Boston is a great city with so many things going on. People have always treated me so well there.”
