Rangers Could Sell Pitching at the MLB Trade Deadlin

Rangers Face Tough Decisions at Trade Deadline

The Rangers have a plethora of quality pitchers on expiring contracts or options for next year that are unlikely to materialize (i.e., vesting options) or be exercised.

So, why don’t the Rangers hold on to this pitching talent and make a run at the playoffs?

That was the plan coming into the season, but sometimes, the best-laid plans don’t pan out. General manager Chris Young would rather add to the team to make a playoff push than consider selling the year after a championship.

However, as of the All-Star break, Texas (46-50) is five games back of Seattle in the AL West and 7.5 games out of a Wild Card spot. This position doesn’t seem promising enough to encourage the defending World Series champions to double down and avoid selling.
